STITCHING AND BEEHIVE NEWS

The holidays have flown by as usual.  This year I didn't stitch a single Christmas gift.
That probably sounds shameful and downright not stitcherlike to many of you.  In my defense, every year prior to this one has come and gone as I stitched one gift after another.  Since stitching all those gifts meant putting off working on projects for me, my collection of UFO's and WIPs had ballooned to an unimaginable number and I found that incredibly depressing at times.

Several years ago I did a chart that stated firmly that God would allow stitchers to bring their stitching to heaven--I got no such assurance from the opposite camp besides no stitcher will go there anyway since the heat would be horrible on everything from the fabric to the floss.  In any case, just as I was starting to think of taking over part of the yard for a stash shed (properly heated and ventilated of course) it occurred to me that there might be a limit on how much stash would be allowed in heaven--after all, picture how much space it would take with all those stitchers up there with all that stash!  Logically speaking, I saw no alternative but to start working on those projects here and now rather than in the hereafter. That is why there were no stitchy gifts this year.

But now, I have spring fever so it is time to move on (for the most part) from my fixation on snowflakes and snowpeople.  I just completed my first spring chart.  I realize this is only mid January but, in the San Joaquin Valley (California),  it is coomon to start enjoying the early signs of Spring sometime in February.  I have already strted thinking in terms of St. Patrick's day but Easter is not yet on my radar scope.

For those of you still in the world where winter is nasty and not even close to half over,  watch for your newsletters and I will try to bring you thoughts of Spring via email to help you through the dismal days ahead.
